Gift Baskets by Melissa was founded in January 2007 by Melissa Chandler Clonch, Owner and Designer. Melissa is a graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone, NC where she received a degree in Elementary Education. She has more than 10 years experience as an educator of K-5 children in Wilmington, NC and in Asheville, NC.
When the business planning began, her twins were 2 months old, the oldest child was nearly 4, and she was staying at home. Time constraints were a concern, but Melissa had a desire to continue using her creative and artistic skills, while also following her lifelong passion for design. A home based gift basket business was the perfect opportunity to showcase these talents, while still offering the freedom to spend time with her 3 small children.
